Visibility for MTV in Rotterdam: Inflatable combined with a 3D metal sculpture.

The European Music Awards are THE reference in the European music industry. Founded in 1994 (like all good things) the award show has been organised in another guest-city accross Europe every year. The 2016 edition was held in Rotterdam, and of course an important event needs a great eye-catcher.

Briefing:

VKN Projecten needed to reproduce the iconic award into a giant version to place it on one of the most important traffic squares in the heart of Rotterdam, Hofplein, in the week before the award show in order to announce the event. The challenge for VKN Projecten was in the installation on the spot in a very limited timeframe at night, when the traffic square was closed for all traffic and public transport.
 

Project:

The EMA award consists of a globe with an MTV logo popping out of Europe with a spring. The MTV logo and the spring were right up VKN Projecten's alley. They were placed on a huge construction of steel beams stabilized by concrete baseplates. For a quick and easy to install solution for the globe X-Treme's expertise and experience came in. X-Treme made an inflatable globe airbrushed by hand in different shades of silver for a beautiful result when illuminated from the inside. An X-Treme team took the inflatable to the Netherlands together with all tools to finish it on location to fit it on the complex metal construction perfectly. A meticulous and crafty job in a short timing. The result: great visibility and exposure for this international event!
